KIDS: The way they imagine

The kids should be free from a kids art class, rather it should be a free platform for their imagination, stories, expression & creativities

Every child is an artist because they have a story. As they got a story, they even/also express it. When they do not develop language they have only one medium and that is Image. And through the help of image they like to express the language. That's why they draw when they can't explain things to their parents, to anyone else. We've seen some problems that has been developing since childhood as the failure to express. And if we wait until the child turns 9 or 10 years old, or when they develop skills, then it can become a hindering issue regarding expression.

Since the establishment of O' Hen Art Studio, we've been focusing on the expression of the child. The way they imagine and the way they express. Expression is not like we want to say something and we said it and called it expression. There are more things to be said as an expression like sensing something which cannot be expressed through language but can be expressed through drawing. If they get the guidance since childhood, to how to explain it and if they keep developing this skill, then in future they won't get bored out of it and will always welcome it as a visual language through which they can express.

Each individual has their different experiences, different observations. Even though they're kids but they got a sense and they can draw. Whatever they draw, we can't even think about that or we can't see . Because, their choices of colors, the choices of lines, the choices of the shapes ; the way we understand, and the way they understand might be similar but they are unable to draw like us. That's why we don't understand their language in their visuals. But they're understanding their language just the expression is not like the way we understand.

The shape we understand from our experiences and the shape they understand through the expression of their limited time, we can draw the square as a square but the child may not draw it as it is. But we notice some things like what the sun is like? The way we draw the sun with a perfect circle and they draw it in an imperfect circle shows that we're understanding the shape in a similar way. That's why we the parents, the guardians or the mentors we should observe if the child got the understanding of the circle as a circle, if they are trying enough to draw it or not instead of judging them for not making a perfect circle, which they might not able to draw perfectly. Because they are trying to express the language .

It's not like how they are saying the language. They can't pronounce the words like it is (say the অ as অ or the আ as আ). They'll try to explain it the way they can pronounce it. The words can change and just like that the shapes and the colors can change too. They can paint the grass pink as pink is their favorite color. Just like that while building the shapes we've to notice if they're understanding the language of that shape or not.

If they're understanding the language then it's okay, they'll develop the skills gradually. That's why we shouldn't expect them to make a composition in a day. They will express in small bits. They may color the grass pink and trying to explain the grass, because pink is their favorite. But we know that grass is green. Grass is green to us only, but they may want all the grass to be pink. That's not wrong, because that's their own language. We must understand that.

We should understand what color they'll pick if we lock them in a dark room for an hour and then ask them to draw. If we put them in a grassland and then after an hour if we ask them to draw in a white room, What they'll draw ? So, they're building their memory. We should respect their memory and we should observe it. We shouldn't expect what they'll draw, they'll draw whatever they get to see. We cannot control that.
